200 children showcased their talent to nearly one million Slovaks.

There are thousands of talented children across Slovakia. Some are fortunate enough to actively develop their talents, while others lack the resources or opportunities to be seen and heard. We are aware of this because our organization receives dozens of requests for support every month.

Our work in the field over the years has proven to us how talented Slovak children are. For example, this year we launched a tennis academy, thanks to public support and our partner 4F, which you can read more about in the article, 16 Children Developed Their Skills in a 3-Month Course.

This year, however, we decided to take a radical step and offer significant support to all children whose talents are undeniable. Every child aged 5-15, without exception, had the opportunity to show their talent to the world, participate in the competition, and compete for prizes. Thanks to all of you who trust our mission, we were able to create a nationwide multi-genre competition called Children Have Talent.

children have talent.

And we didn’t stop at the eight winners, to whom we distributed a total of €1800 in support of their talents. More than 200 children from every corner of our country took the opportunity to shine, have fun, and show their talents to nearly one million households in Slovakia.

Children are our future

The generation growing up before our eyes will one day shape the future of our country.

During a time when most of us stayed safe at home, we couldn’t stand by and watch children face a critical situation. They couldn’t go to school, all their extracurricular activities were canceled, and they were cut off from socialization and the development of their gifts and talents. Six months of emergency conditions could lead to lasting negative effects on their physical and mental health.

As an organization focused on helping children, we address every issue concerning them with sensitivity. That’s why we created the nationwide multi-genre competition Children Have Talent, with the following goals:

  • SUPPORT CHILDREN

We created a space where children could publicly showcase their talents and gifts. They had the chance to practice, step out of their comfort zones, and overcome the fear of sharing their talents with the world. The competition offered this opportunity and support to all children, without exception.

  • CHANGE THE ATMOSPHERE

In homes filled with pandemic-related news, we brought joy through a new activity that was different from the main topic dominating society. We also brought children’s talent videos to the internet, where they were viewed by nearly one million people.

Famous figures got involved

We’re happy that well-known and talented personalities from the Slovak dance, music, and acting scenes supported the project. Through this, children who look up to them had a chance to get even closer to their role models, boosting their motivation to keep working on themselves.

What did parents have to say?

We awarded six winning talent performances and distributed a total of €1800 in vouchers to eight children, giving parents the opportunity to support their children’s talents at home.

We’re pleased that parents understood and appreciated the project’s goal:

“I know the current times are tough, but maybe projects like this can help us get through it more easily.”

Lenka B.’s mom

“Thank you for giving children the space to show their talent even in these strange times.”

What did slovaks think as viewers?

It was amazing to see the hundreds of encouraging comments that poured in throughout the competition under the children’s videos. We believe this is exactly what children need during these challenging times: encouragement, joy, and support. Here are just a few of them:

“Matej, you have a wonderful tone to your voice. This song was perfect for you!”

Jessica W. commenting on Matej’s video

“You brought so much light. You’re already a winner. At your age, Etherka, we’ll welcome you to our team for future projects. I’m moved and enchanted. Your family and teacher are wonderfully supportive.”

Silvia Z. commenting on Esther’s video

“Veronika, fingers crossed! Your voice is beautiful, and you sing with real feeling. You hit the notes easily and mastered the character of the songs. Your natural performance is so convincing.”

Slávka K. commenting on Veronika’s video

“This is something you don’t see every day. Incredibly talented little stars. I wish them all the best. Keep dancing perfectly like this!”

Marcela S. commenting on Timea and Nelka’s video

“I’m watching in awe at these young boys. You can see they enjoy it, and it’s nice to see how they respect and preserve traditions.”

Ľudmila H. commenting on Ferko, Filip, and Tomáš’s video

Children have alent in 2021

Our vision for 2021 is to see and support hundreds more talented children across Slovakia, not just through online platforms, but by giving them the chance to meet in person, perform on stage, experience applause and recognition live, and meet personalities who will encourage them in their future endeavors.

We hope to see you, our supporters, at the event in 2021.
