The essence of the challenge was to tell us about someone in need whom we could pleasantly surprise. Thanks to this initiative, we met many wonderful people, including Ms. Martina.
Martina has two children—a boy and a girl—for whom she works hard to provide everything she can. During the pre-Christmas period, we took this lovely family shopping at a mall, where we bought them winter clothing and shoes, as Martina simply couldn’t afford it. Her beautiful message after the shopping trip confirmed that we were doing the right thing:
“Allow me to thank you for the moments you spent with us, for the time you dedicated to us. I have written so many times and sent nothing. I can’t express it in just one or two sentences. So please accept my gratitude in a simple thank you. There is no gift like a gift. The time spent with you was indescribable. It’s like something that no one has seen, and you can’t describe it because you don’t know how to compare it. Those moments were so special. And even though several weeks have passed, it still holds a place in my heart. You gave me so much more than just a gift or clothes for the kids. The fact that the children have winter clothing and shoes feels like you lifted a huge burden off me. I also thank you for the beautiful cosmetic gift. The meeting at the café was exceptional—you opened my son’s heart, and after meeting you, he performed a noble act by buying basic groceries for a family that has even less than we do. He started to see the value of life, he became a different boy, and he began to see more goodness in people. Thank you for opening new doors in his heart. My daughter Lucka enjoyed every minute of your attention. You lifted a burden off me, and I began to breathe more freely. My life started to shift, and it continues to do so. Thank you for every minute of your genuine and heartfelt interest.”
