Do you remember the May challenge aimed at helping Laurinka? A large number of kind people joined this effort, which enabled us to help Laurinka with her rehabilitation stay, which this brave little fighter has now completed. So, what are the results of this treatment?
It’s now September, and we bring you a letter from Laurinka’s parents, who contacted us a few days ago.
But first, on behalf of the PIEROTT organization, we want to thank all the donors. You are amazing.
A Letter from Laurinka’s Parents
Our daughter, Laurinka, successfully completed a three-week “TheraSuit program” rehabilitation course at the “Svetielko” rehabilitation center from July 26th to August 13th, 2021. We are always so happy when we have the opportunity for such intensive rehabilitation, as it is the most important treatment for her incurable diagnosis and is absolutely essential.
The three weeks flew by, and Laurinka managed everything beyond our expectations, diligently practicing with great enthusiasm and willingness. We are so proud of her determination and courage. Each day began with oxygen therapy, followed by a massage, and then intensive exercises focused mainly on her legs. Several times a week, after the exercises, she also participated in multisensory therapy.
These three weeks have moved Laurinka significantly forward. She now has even more desire, courage, and strength to stand on her own two feet and walk by herself without assistance. Although her diagnosis has also caused mental delays and speech impairment, she remains incredibly persistent, celebrating every step. Even when she falls, she is eager to get up and keep going. We are immensely proud of her. Every day, she moves around the house, from room to room, grabbing objects and toys that she couldn’t reach before. We see that with her progress in motor skills, her speech has also improved, and we believe she now understands more of what we say and what is happening around her.
Since it had been a while since we last completed such a program, we notice great improvements. Therefore, we want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts who opened their hearts and wallets to make this stay possible for Laurinka. Without your help, we wouldn’t have been able to do it. We are deeply grateful for every bit of help. May every act of giving be remembered and rewarded.
And what about the future? After this rehabilitation, we have a strong desire to do something like this with Laurinka as often as possible, at least once a year. We’ve also been considering dolphin therapy for some time, which we believe could help her make even more progress.
What you at PIEROTT do for children with disabilities is incredible. May God bless you and grant you success in everything you do.
