Marko

This year, Marko also benefited from a stay in the Tatras, gifted to him by one of our supporters.

It’s well known that children with serious diagnoses need regular rehabilitation and treatments to improve their condition or at least prevent it from worsening. And it’s equally known that many families must find the funds for these rehabilitations themselves, which is often challenging. However, not everyone knows that a trip to the Tatras can also have a positive effect on the health of such children and their families. Thanks to the initiative of one of our supporters, our hero Marko and his family were able to enjoy a weekend getaway to the Tatras this year, where they spent beautiful moments in nature, surrounded by family and breathtaking views.

Marko spent the weekend at Chata Zázvor, located in Trangoška, right in the Chopok Juh resort at the start of the hiking trail to Ďumbier. This newly built cabin offers families a wonderful experience of the Tatras, catering to both children and adults. Fresh air, beautiful nature, great food, and board games are just a glimpse of what Marko enjoyed during the weekend. The family also didn’t skip the “mandatory” hike, which Marko managed brilliantly after this year’s rehabilitation.

We are glad that thanks to you, our supporters, we can provide disadvantaged children with experiences, joy, and lasting memories. We strongly wish for Marko’s health and fitness to keep improving, and that he continues to have many more amazing experiences like this.

Read Marko’s reaction to his stay at Chata Zázvor:

“It was awesome, like really awesome…”

“This is something! I’ve never seen anything like it,” Marko said as we arrived at Chata Zázvor. Newly built, wooden, cozy… All together in one room, which he liked, and that view through the window! A forest. He lay down on the bed right under the window and declared that this was his spot. That in itself was an experience. Besides the great food—because honestly, Marko and his brother couldn’t decide what to choose, and it ended up in a ‘taste-testing carousel’—there was plenty of joy when they found a place outside to play (chess and a ping-pong table). We thought we wouldn’t make it to the “hike” at all. But in the end, we did, and we headed uphill with the goal of stretching his Achilles tendon and practicing the walking pattern: arm-leg, balancing… It’s true that Marko got tired faster, but fortunately, the cable car saved the day. And again, there was joy because we made it all the way to Chopok, where the view was stunning. It was truly an experience—our Tatras are truly beautiful.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Pierott, for connecting us, and a big thanks to Mr. Janko from Chata Zázvor and the whole wonderful team that runs the kitchen and service, for the opportunity to spend a weekend in such a beautiful place, do something for our health, and experience things that are usually not possible. We weren’t the only ones who didn’t want to leave.”
