Dolphin therapy helped Mark. What we didn’t expect, happened.

Mark’s story is well-known to our readers. The boy, who was never supposed to walk, not only walks today but also attends school. Mark is a hero who continues to amaze those around him, thanks to his family and your support.

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise funds once again for him to undergo another dolphin therapy session in Romania, leading to remarkable health improvements.

Why dolphin therapy?

Aside from being one of the most intelligent and playful mammals, dolphins have an interesting ability to emit high-frequency waves (ultrasound). These waves are not detectable by the human ear, but dolphins use them to monitor their surroundings in great detail.

What’s crucial is that when a person is near a dolphin, these ultrasound waves penetrate the human body and have incredible effects—not only on a cellular level but also on mental health and emotions. Dolphin therapy has strong relaxing effects, harmonizes the body, greatly aids brain function, and helps to relax muscles.

These were the reasons that convinced us and the specialists familiar with Mark’s case that this type of therapy was the right choice for him.

For more information about the dolphinarium that Mark visited, see the end of this article.

Read about the progress Mark made thanks to dolphin therapy in a letter from his mother.

“We all have dreams and desires, big or small. But one thing we all wish for is the health and well-being of our loved ones. When people join forces and create a chain of help, willingness, and understanding, it sparks the engine, and we believe we will move forward again.

This year, we took another step forward. At the end of August and beginning of September, Mark underwent dolphin therapy in Constanta, Romania. Two weeks with an amazing creature, the dolphin. The experience was unforgettable for Mark and for us, his parents.

Every day, Mark looked forward to his half-hour ‘date’ with the dolphin Chan-Chan in 19°C water. By the second week, Mark began to return the favor by singing to the dolphin, showing such affection that he even tried to hug him occasionally. The much larger mammal handled it wonderfully. A deep bond formed between Mark and the dolphin, making the farewell at the end truly emotional, right up to the final wave.”

How did dolphin therapy help Mark?

Mentally:

There was a significant improvement. He reads more easily, writes more beautifully with improved focus, and is becoming more expressive. He asserts his desires, thoughts, and even starts to argue.

Physically:

There was progress in his left hand, which he wanted to open. The combination of therapies, seawater, the need to stay afloat, and stroking the dolphin contributed to the relaxation of the affected parts of his body.

Bonus: “Sea Therapy”

We have been battling a skin condition for six years. Despite doctors’ efforts, the problem kept returning, just on different parts of his body. Along with other rehabilitations, we didn’t have the resources to take him to the sea. Thanks to dolphin therapy, we got what we didn’t expect—daily visits to the sea for 2–3 hours, and now Mark’s skin is clear. We hope it stays that way.

One last note from Mark’s mother:

,,“Thank you to everyone who contributed to Mark’s stay. Thank you for the dedicated work of ‘Pierotts,’ who have chosen the path of helping others achieve their dreams. Thank you to those who believe that help, love, and encouragement can still make the impossible happen.”
